This is David, Barbara's brother. For those of you who have not heard yet, I'm sorry to post that Barbara passed away last night due to a blood clot which reached her heart. I know that throughout her struggle she greatly appreciated all of the well wishes that everyone posted here, and on behalf of her family we want to thank you.
A service will probably be held in Gaithersburg, MD this weekend or Monday, but all of these details have not been worked out yet. One of us will post here when we know more.

Dear Del and family:
We received the news late last night and we wish you all comfort.
Barbara leaves a legacy of faith and courage in our heart more than you'll ever know.

Dear Del and Family,
Barbara's McLean School family is devastated to hear of your loss. We send our heartfelt condolences and our love.
Barbara worked hard to serve her students here in our Lower School. She took a vested interest in reaching her students, always seeking out new and exciting resources and activities for the kids. She paid special attention to her students' needs and their interests. She worked tirelessly to help them integrate technology into their learning. Just a few weeks ago, she set up the plans for the beginning of the school year, to make sure that her students would start their year of computer classes fully engaged and excited to learn.
Barbara will be remembered as an awesome teacher and an amazingly sweet and helpful colleague. She spent a lot of time and energy providing support to her fellow teachers as we wandered lost in the ever-growing forest of technology! I'm sure at times it seemed that she needed to educate the adults more than she needed to educate the children; but she always did this with great patience, a sigh and a smile. We will truly miss her smile.
Barbara's short time at McLean was a gift that we will always treasure. She touched many lives here--both big and small. We will always treasure and remember her.

Del and family,
You all are in our thoughts and prayers. We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Barbara's death. She was a real inspiration to me- so active and involved....in her family, her school, her church and her community. She was a real ray of sunlight and had such an open spirit. God bless you all. Please find comfort knowing that you all are in the thoughts and prayers of many.
All our love, John & Deb
Del and family,
Words cannot express our surprise and sadness at learning that Barb passed away. You and Sage, along with the rest of your family, will definitely be in our prayers throughout this whole ordeal and afterward. You and Barb have approached this whole process with an inspiring strength and brightness. Even though it certainly doesn't seem like it, God does not bring you to a situation that HE will not be there to bring you through. Barb's faith, courage, willingness to serve, and humor through all of the trials and tribulations are a great tribute to her and serve as a wonderful example to all of us. Remember, you are not alone (even though it probably feels that way) in the midst of these tough times.
I found this song and it summed it up...although a bit corny...the sentiments are there....Barbara liked the Mahna Mahna song so I hope this is o.k.

""Somehow I know, we'll meet again
Not sure quite where and I don't know just when
You're in my heart so until then
Wanna smile
Wanna cry
Saying goodbye"
